Frequently asked questions.
What is counselling:
Counselling helps you explore your concerns with a professional, setting goals for personal growth. It's a time to prioritise yourself and talk openly about anything on your mind. Counselling is a collaborative process where the client and counsellor build a relationship to explore issues together.
Starting therapy can feel uncertain, but you're not alone. We are here to support you and your journey. Whether you need short-term help for specific issues or deeper exploration for lasting growth, we'll find the approach that best suits you.
What to Expect:
A brief phone call to assess your needs and compatibility.
In the first session, we'll discuss your history, current mental health, and key areas of concern.
Future sessions will focus on setting goals and finding the best therapeutic approach for you. You may also be given tasks to work on between sessions if you're happy to.
Together, we can set goals, we'll work towards healthier ways of managing stress, emotions, and breaking unhelpful patterns.
How does online counselling work?
Online counselling offers a flexible and convenient way to receive therapy from anywhere. At Holding Space Counselling, we conduct sessions through an online platform, allowing you to connect face-to-face with your counsellor from the comfort of your home.
To get started, you simply book a session online and receive a conformation email, with a link to join the meeting at your scheduled time. All you need is a stable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone. The session will feel similar to in-person therapy, where you can openly discuss your challenges and work towards your goals in a safe, supportive environment.
What is a walk and talk session, and how do I book this?
A walk and talk session is a unique form of therapy that combines the benefits of physical activity with counselling. Instead of sitting in a traditional office setting. We meet outdoors for a walk, allowing you to discuss your thoughts and feelings while enjoying the natural environment. This approach can help reduce anxiety and promote a sense of ease during your session.
To see if this option is available in your location, please reach out to us to book a session. We'll discuss your needs and arrange a time that works for you.
